Walk the talk, kiss breast cancer goodbye

MANILA, Philippines -  Avon, the company for women and foremost advocate of breast cancer, marked the 20th year of its Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) campaign with the launch of its 2012 KGBC series at GMA Studio 7.

Present at the launch were Avon Philippines president and general manager Kanwar Bhutani, celebrity and new campaign advocate Sarah Lahbati, and representatives of Avon’s 2012 KGBC partners: Dr. Rachael Rosario, executive director, Philippine Cancer Society; Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, chairman and CEO, GMA 7; Sonja Vodusek general manager, The Peninsula Manila; Randy Krieger, general manager, Ford Philippines; and Jen Colayco, SM Women’s Committee.

Themed “Let’s Walk the Talk,” this year’s campaign invites Filipinos to deepen and concretize their involvement in the breast cancer cause by coming face-to-face with the life-threatening disease and becoming effective agents of knowledge about the condition through a 20-day nationwide tour, accompanied by Avon’s annual walk and run events.

Avon KGBC’s Let’s Walk the Talk Tour will be at Avon Taft from August 27 to 29, Avon Shaw from September 3 to 5, Avon Edsa from September 10 to 12, and off-site locations SM Cebu from September 27 to 30 and SM Davao from October 25 to 28.

Avon’s annual walk and run events are slated on October 21 at the SM Mall of Asia open grounds. Registration for the KGBC Run will be held until October 13 at the following Avon branches: Makati head office (864-2638), Taft (516-8001 to 06), and Shaw (571-8937/541-8933). Interested participants may likewise sign up at the Royal Sporting House in Glorietta 4, Makati (752-7084) until October 13, and at R.O.X. Bonifacio High Street (856-4639) from September 26 to October 14.

For a registration fee of P500 for the 5k event and P650 for the 10k event, individuals will receive the Avon KGBC Race Kit, which already includes a singlet, race number, and giveaway. Proceeds from the event will go to PGH Breast Care Center and selected provincial hospitals. 

To join the walk events, simply purchase the 2012 KGBC T-shirt for only P220 from an Avon representative beginning September 1. For every shirt purchased, P20 will be donated to the Philippine General Hospital Breast Care Center and selected provincial hospitals.

You may also show your support for the cause by purchasing the Avon Ultra Color Rich Brilliance Lipstick, with part of the proceeds earmarked for the breast cancer fund.
