The best of British education now in the Philippines

- The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  British education, known in the world for excellence, dating back to the tradition of Oxford and Cambridge Unversity, now gains ground in the Philippines when The King’s School opens in September 2012.

Classrooms in The King’s School Manila are equipped with IWBs (interactive white boards) connected to the Internet, enabling teachers and children to have a dynamic, student-directed, interactive learning experience. Students can also avail themselves of the use of Mac Airlaptops and iPad programs.

It is a member of the British Schools Group, which operates eight other schools in Asia (Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Kuala Lumpur, Tashkent) and Europe (Moscow, Navarra, Marbella), and one in Brazil. It is not affiliated with the existing British School here.

The  school is a composite of modern classrooms with well-resourced library and reading areas enhanced by e-book downloads on the iPads, purpose-built science lab,

Art and Design Technology facility, football and basketball courts, indoor gym, as well as in-house catering sprawled on a 5,000sq.m. campus along Bradco Avenue in Aseana City, Parañaque near Mall of Asia.

According to head teacher Janet Brock, two aspects — enjoyment and achievement — are fundamental values of The King’s School Manila. “We hold a strong conviction that happy pupils will not only learn more, but will develop the ability to face life’s challenges with confidence and a positive attitude to learning that will last a lifetime.”

Serving a diverse international community that demands the very best of British education, The King’s School Manila ensures students are able to succeed academically while engaging in sports, arts, and social interaction.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the school partnered with Rotary Club of Dasmariñas Makati, founded by Dr. Rebecca B. Singson  and now headed by Phillip Nazareno as president, for its wide networking among Rotarians. The King’s School Manila is offering a scholarship to a qualified nine-year-old Filipino child, currently in Grade IV or Year 5 level, at The King’s School Manila beginning academic year 2012-2013. Every year, they will accept a scholar  for the next four years.

Screening and qualifying tests were conducted by the Rotary Club of Dasmariñas, Makati. Parents of prospective students aged two to 14 years old may visit The King’s School website at http://www.kings.org.ph. For more information, e-mail admissions@kings.org.ph or call 478-9859. Better yet, visit their sprawling campus where Janet Brock will be delighted to give you a tour of the school.
