National Bible Quiz winners named

MANILA, Philippines - The 2nd National Bible Quiz held recently was a smashing success. Organized by the Society of St. Paul, the National Bible Quiz aims to help spread and encourage catechism among the Filipino youth.

Participants came from different parts of the country. Elimination and semi-final rounds were held in various parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. In the end, the best and the brightest flew to Manila for the grand finals showdown coinciding with the last day of the Manila International Book Fair. The ultimate winning team received P50,000 cash plus trophies and medals.

This year, the National Bible Quiz gathered 218 teams coming from 138 schools and parishes all over the country. The lucky grand finalists included Angeles University Foundation Pampanga, Sisters of Mary Girlstown Cebu, Sisters of Mary Girlstown Cavite, Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Iloilo, University of the Immaculate Concepcion Davao, Claret School, and St. Paul’s College of Parañaque.

One grueling quiz question after another, it soon became clear that the students from the Sisters of Mary Girlstown Cebu would run away with the grand prize. Meanwhile, St. Paul’s College of Parañaque bagged the first place while the Claret School came in second. In addition, St. Paul’s College of Parañaque was declared a special category winner.

The talented ballet dancers from the Shirley Halili Ballet Group kept the fun alive along with Markki Stroem of Pilipinas Got Talent.
