Comfort and safety for newborns at the Huggery at Asian Hospital

-

MANILA, Philippines - Expect one-of-a-kind care and comfort for your little bundle of joy at Asian Hospital and Medical Center as its state-of-the-art nursery called Huggery offers 24-hour safety and protection for newborn babies.

“Asian Hospital has conceptualized the Huggery to be more than just a nursery. We’ve designed it to be a cozy abode where newborns can feel warmth and security while away from Mom. This homely ambiance is complemented by top-of-the-line features not found in other hospital nurseries, which stay true to Asian Hospital’s commitment of providing world-class healthcare,” explains Neil Jaymalin, quality management director of Asian Hospital and Medical Center.

The Huggery can accommodate 20 babies with standard spacing for each crib. It is equipped with three state-of-the-art baby warmers with built-in emergency equipment on standby to ensure baby gets the care he/she needs. It also offers standard newborn screening to check on the condition of the baby.

The most important feature that makes the Huggery stand out is the 24-hour security offered through a CCTV (closed-circuit television) surveillance camera. Explains Jaymalin, “We’ve installed a surveillance camera as an added security feature aside from the medical staff that mans the Huggery. This is to ensure that babies are protected at all times, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.”

In case of natural or man-made disasters, parents can take comfort in the fact that their baby will stay safe and protected inside the Huggery. All the screens and windows are bullet-proof and shatter-proof, so if there’s an earthquake or any kind of disaster, the rooms will not collapse right away, ensuring that babies stay safe inside.

Apart from this security feature, the Huggery’s viewing room is also open 24 hours a day, seven days a week so visitors can view the baby from the outside any time of the day. Visiting hours, however, come with strict security measures: “Even moms should advise when she goes for a visit. So she or other visitors can just go there and ask to see the baby whenever they want,” says Jaymalin.

The Huggery is located on the third floor of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. For inquiries, call 771-9000 to 02 local 5791 or 876-5791. For more information, visit www.asianhospital.com.
