Patient transfer made easier at Makati Med
MANILA, Philippines – The difficulties of manual patient transfer are now a thing of the past at Makati Medical Center. Through the years, MakatiMed has acquired a sizable number of medical equipment to facilitate the hospital’s delivery of premium health services to its patients, and to become one of the safest and most technologically advanced healthcare institutions. The first to address the arduous and traditional method of transferring patients, MakatiMed utilizes the Orbiter patient transfer system. According to MakatiMed president and CEO Rose Montenegro, “The system provides a new, safe, hygienic, and trouble-free transfer of a patient from the hospital bed to the operating or delivery room and vice versa. MakatiMed is also the first hospital in the country to acquire the Orbiter equipment.” The equipment features heated bed contact surfaces and photoelectric beams and sensors that ensure maximum safety by monitoring the correct height and position of the patient, while keeping the proper height of the bed in check. In addition, the Orbiter can combine with an operating room table system or mobile OR table to improve the over-all efficiency of patient transfers in the hospital.
