What expectant moms should expect

-

MANILA, Philippines - Pregnancy can be an overwhelming experience, especially for first-time moms. It is very important for mothers to take care of their body especially during these nine precious months. The development of your child greatly depends on the nutrients your body is able to provide for your growing baby. Even after pregnancy, it is important to constantly strengthen your child’s immune system with nutrient-filled breast milk that helps your baby grow healthy and bright.

Here are some suggestions from Health Express for mothers to ensure the good health and development of their baby:

• Prenatal vitamins. As your baby absorbs a lot of the nutrition from the food you eat, prenatal vitamins replenish your body with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and energized.

1. Folic acid. This supplement is highly essential for the brain development of your baby. It is a B vitamin found mostly in leafy green vegetables, and also helpful in preventing neural tube defects and other cardiovascular malformation.

2. Omega-3. These are essential fatty acids which our body can’t produce but can be acquired from food like fish, salmon, tuna, and other seafood. It is important for the cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function of the brain. Infants who also don’t get enough omega-3 fatty acids are at a risk for developing nerve and vision problems. It’s also been scientifically proven to improve your baby’s motor skills while still inside the womb and during the first year of his life.

3. Gentle iron. Most women experience depleted iron since it goes mostly to the baby. It may be necessary to supplement your diet with iron to increase hemoglobin levels during pregnancy.

4. Calcium. Calcium is required for the baby to develop strong bones and teeth. It is also needed to grow a healthy heart, nerves, and muscles. It also helps to develop a normal heart rhythm and blood-clotting abilities.

5. Malunggay. This super nutrient and vitamin-rich herbal is a great source of calcium, potassium. and iron.  It also helps increase breast milk and is more potent with immunity boosters for your baby.

Health Express offers dietary supplements for the expecting moms such as Nature’s Bounty Prenatal, Health Express Fish Oil, Health Express Malunggay, Nature’s Bounty Folic Acid, and Nature’s Bounty Gentle Iron.
