Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan bus goes to Tarlac
MANILA, Philippines - The Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan (LBK) bus, a health promotion fiesta caravan, recently embarked on its first journey to Patal Bato, Crow Valley, Barangay Juliana, Capas, Tarlac.
Led by the Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with local government, and supported by the United States Agency for International Development and the private sector, LBK uses the concept of a traveling bus as a platform for local government units (LGUs) to reach families and communities with messages on health-seeking practices through a fun, engaging environment.
Among the health messages promoted by LBK are:
• Pregnant women must have at least four pre-natal care visits and have a birth plan to be better prepared for the birth event.
• Space births at least three years apart for the benefit of women and children.
• Births must be attended by skilled health workers in a health facility.
• For smarter and healthier children, breastfeed your babies exclusively (no water, other milk, liquid or food) for the first six months.
