The truth about lice
MANILA, Philippines - Head lice can be the most dangerous parasites. Head lice sufferers often wound their itchy scalp from incessant scratching, which may cause an adverse reaction on the lesion.
A huge percentage of sufferers consists of children. Lice infestations on kids are common since they play with each other and they are unhygienic most of the time due to their playful nature. Head-to-head contact with a lice carrier can bring debilitating diseases, from allergies to hepatitis. Alarmingly, our own home remedy, which is applying gasoline or kerosene, has caused a big dilemma in the Filipino household.
Coming to the rescue is the Alis Kuto, together with Iwas Dengue, campaign, to raise the awareness on proper hygiene and provide practical solutions to prevent head lice. Battling dengue caused by mosquito bites is also given equal attention.
“We educate the young ones and their parents on how our products — Oilganics Head Lice Shampoo, Oilganics Andiroba Herbal Lotion, and the Doggies Choice Pet House Cleanser — can be used to protect themselves from such parasites,” says Chester Dy, marketing manager of Rhodesian Distributor. The company has been conducting Alis Kuto for three years now in different schools and barangays all over Metro Manila.
“One advantage of using Oilganics products is that its key ingredients are based on natural plant extracts,” notes Dy.
Oilganics Head Lice Shampoo for one, has quassinoids, a herbal extract that naturally repels lice. Other anti-lice shampoo products that are insecticide-based contain dangerous amounts of toxic pesticides in order to kill and remove lice. “Unlike the insecticide-based products, quassinoids drive the lice away instead of killing them,” explains Dy.
The Oilganics line is available at all Mercury Drug outlets nationwide, while Doggies Choice Pet House Cleanser is available at leading pet stores, supermarkets, and malls nationwide.
