Lotte Xylitol, PDA tie up for dental health care awareness
MANILA, Philippines - Dental health gum brand Lotte Xylitol and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Committee on Dental Public Health, the country’s premier organization of dental practitioners, recently launched a significant partnership aimed at promoting oral health awareness among Filipinos.
The partnership signifies a joint initiative that aims to educate the people about the value of oral hygiene and overall dental health care.
For this campaign, Lotte Xylitol engaged the PDA’s Committee on Dental Public Health (DPH) in its objective of promoting oral health awareness through the four habits of maintaining good oral hygiene, which include a well-balanced diet; brushing teeth with a fluoride-based toothpaste, flossing; chewing a dental health gum; and visiting the dentist at least twice a year. These four habits will be communicated via huge billboards that hope to catch the attention of the general public about the values of proper oral health care.
Aside from the billboards, Lotte Xylitol will also help the PDA’s Committee on Dental Public Health in the creative execution and printing of the DPH’s Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials and in the creative development of the campaign mascot called “Captain D.”
“We deemed it right to partner with the PDA’s Committee on Dental Public Health mainly because of the alarming rate of tooth decay in the Philippines, where nine out of 10 children have tooth decay. Through the DPH campaign, we shall also be harping, aside from the four habits of maintaining good oral hygiene, Lotte Xylitol’s ‘Good Habits, Good Teeth’ tagline. Chewing a dental health gum is part of the four good habits to maintain good oral hygiene, that is why we know that Lotte Xylitol, being the only dental health gum in the country recognized by the PDA, will play a significant role in the campaign,” explains Therese Reyes, marketing manager of Lotte Xylitol.
Dr. Angelo Fernandez, chairman of the Dental Public Health Committee of the PDA, says, “It is a good thing that Lotte Xylitol continues to partner with us on this endeavor, to help us educate the public regarding the importance of oral health, particularly among children. We believe in the power of information and Lotte Xylitol’s decision to join us in this information and communications drive about oral hygiene and the perils of tooth decay and how to prevent it is of vital importance.”
