Tennis champ Alexie Santos finds her Prince Charming

-

MANILA, Philippines - When it comes to individual sports, Filipinos have always proven their mettle as exceptional athletes who can compete with the best of the best from around the world. Boxing has Manny Pacquiao, billiards has Efren “Bata” Reyes, while bowling has Paeng Nepomuceno. Unfortunately, no Filipino has ever made a name for him/herself in the exciting world of tennis, where speed, power, consistency, and a mastery of techniques have given the sport’s biggest names enormous success while competing for their country.

In the Philippines, a young girl is showing glimpses of a future champion’s form. With the way her career is now going, 10-year-old Alexie Santos may just be the future tennis champ the Philippines can add in its roster of world-class athletes. Described by her father coach Pet Santos as a hard-working athlete with an all-around game, Alexie always puts on her game face when on court as a ferocious competitor who is always hungry for victory. In fact, she often beats older players in her category, proving that she is not easily intimidated and will do everything to win a match. To date, she has won 25 national titles in tournaments around the Philippines.

Recently, Alexie competed and won six championship titles in four major tennis tournaments in Malaysia: Girls Under 10 Singles of the Tuankei Syed Putra International Junior Tennis Championship; Girls Under 10 Doubles, and Girls Under 10 Singles of the 27th Penang Open International Junior Age Group Tennis Championship 2010; Under 10 Girls Singles in the Langkawi GeoPark International Championship 2010; and Girls Under 10 Doubles and Girls Under 10 Singles in the Genting Selangan International Junior Open Tennis Championship.

This highly momentous tennis feat of Alexie in four grand slam states, according to the Malaysian organizers, is a clear indication of her exemplary skill as this accomplishment is rarely achieved by any player, especially so for someone of such young age.

Helping her get started on the right pace is her ultimate weapon on court: Prince racquets, which is a leading brand around the world used by the sport’s biggest names. Alexie uses Prince EXO3 Red which puts more power on her serve, forehand and backhand, using the latest precision technology to help in all aspects of her game.   Prince, for its part,    recognizes the outstanding potentials of Alexie, and is sponsoring her in her tournaments.

Liza Labrador of Sports Resources Inc. (SRI), the exclusive distributor of Prince racquets in the Philippines, said that they are proud to support Alexie in her quest to become a world-class champion, by supplying her with the latest line of Prince racquets to further enhance her game.

Alexie started playing tennis as early as four years old, inspired by her idol in the sport, Maria Sharapova.   In the future, she plans to train harder, win more tournaments, and, if luck permits, maybe join the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) circuit and be a future world-class tennis ace who will make her country proud.
