All aboard for the kiteboard jam

-

MANILA, Philippines - Get your boards ready and ride your way to CamSur as top riders from all over the world come together for a one-of-a-kind sporting event — the first ever Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam slated Dec. 3-12.

CamSur’s maverick Governor Lray Villafuerte creates another milestone in Philippine sports history with a unique sporting event that will put Camsur and the country in the world map. Gov. Villafuerte launches the Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam, sure to set everyone’s eyes and ears on the progressive province of CamSur yet again.

The Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam is set to be the biggest in the country with both international and local riders battling it out in one exciting competition. CamSur Governor Lray Villafuerte enthuses, “Kiteboarding is another sport that is growing in popularity in the world. Especially during the windy months of December, CamSur offers the perfect weather for the sport. We have collaborated with two of the biggest icons in kiteboarding, Mauricio Abreu and Andre Philip, who will design four obstacles to create the ultimate kite park. Unlike the usual flat surface of the ocean, these obstacles will surely engage and provide a new experience for all the riders.” It is rare in the sport for riders to be hitting rails and obstacles with a kiteboard, making the Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam extreme and a one-of-a-kind event in the world.

Designed to showcase the versatility of the location and test the skills of board riders, the Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam from December 3 to 12 is a unique event that relies on weather conditions. Primarily aimed to introduce kiteboarding as an alternate tool which complements other boardsports such as wakeboarding, the riders will compete with each other on kiteboarding if the winds are good, and on wakeboarding if the winds are still. Considered as the best wake park in the world, the chosen venue CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC) is a one-of-a-kind watersports park designed for wakeboarding, wakeskating, and waterskiing.

Pooling together various personalities with different levels of each sport from all over the world, the Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam is a nine-day event which will feature cable and kite competitions — where the riders will be vying for the Best Overall Performance, Best Cable Rider, and Best Kite Rider awards — as well a trip to CamSur’s Pasacao Beach and waterfalls, movie nights featuring event photos and video clips, wakeboard videos and movies, and parties every night, with Kite Boarder Ruben Lenten from Holland spinning at one of the parties. Some of the world’s best riders including Greg Norman Jr., Mauricio Abreu, Moehau Goold, Aaron Able, Aaron Hadlow, Chad Worrall, Chris Burke, Jason Slezak, Sam Light, Tom Court, and Ruben Lenten have been invited and will showcase their skills with the board, wind or no wind. There will also be photo and video awards to be given based on the votes.

The Wind or No Wind Kiteboard Jam is presented by CamSur Watersports Complex, Republ1c, O’Neill, Liquid Force, Skull Candy, Slingshot Sports, Rebootizer, Team Duke, and Hinaho Tahiti. Visit www.windornowind.com for more information and updates.
