Winners in the 2nd Lampara Books children's storytelling tilt

-

MANILA, Philippines - Six students emerged as winners in Lampara Books’ 2nd Interschool Children’s storytelling competition on the final day of the tilt held on the last day of the recently concluded 31st Manila International Book Fair at the SMX Convention Center.

The competition is a yearly event sponsored by Lampara Publishing House, Inc (LPHI), which aims to promote literacy and love of reading among elementary students nationwide. LPHI publishes the popular Lampara Books, whose children book imprints include Mga Makabagong Alamat, Kuwentong Nanay, Stories with Moral Lessons, Mga Premyadong Kuwentong Pambata, among others.

A total of 148 students representing 16 different schools participated in the tilt. The schools represented were chosen by officers of Alitaptap Storytellers Philippines from a field of 146 elementary schools from across the country during the first round of the contest.

The competition produced two sets of winners from each of the two levels of the tilt: Level 1 (Grades 1-3) and Level 2 (Grades 4-7). Judges were award-winning children’s book author and TV writer Augie Rivera and Precious Pages Corporation editor in chief Edith Garcia. Participants were required to read and tell children’s stories published in Lampara Books.

The event was attended by LPHI publisher Segundo D. Matias Jr. and LPHI department managers.
