Energizer gives free hearing aid batteries
MANILA, Philippines - Energizer, maker of the world’s longest-lasting battery in high-tech devices, recently launched a public service program that gives out free hearing aid batteries to interested participants. With its long-standing commitment to protect the environment, the battery maker introduces the world’s first zero-mercury hearing aid batteries.
Mercury, a natural occurring element, helps with conductivity and acts as a stabilizing element in hearing aid batteries, but is generally toxic. While the amount of mercury in each hearing aid battery is small and non-harmful to users, accumulated amounts of mercury gravely affect the environment.
Through a combination of new product design, purer raw materials, and new manufacturing processes, Energizer has succeeded in removing all mercury in its full line of hearing aid batteries without compromising battery performance.
As an added bonus, the Energizer Amplifier ZeroMercury has the best rust resistance in hearing aid batteries. Not only will it help prevent damage to hearing aids, it will also save users any embarrassment that may be caused by unsightly rust buildup on their hearing aids.
To support the hearing-impaired Filipino community, Energizer also provided hearing aids to the hearing-impaired children in Cebu in partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation. The turnover ceremonies happened during the Kapuso Night celebration after the Energizer Night Race held recently. Over 2,500 runners participated in the first-ever night race staged in the country.
“We, at Energizer Philippines, believe that hearing is vital to the normal learning process and full integration of these children into a productive society,” says Energizer brand manager Joan Mendoza. “We hope that these hearing devices will equip them with the tools required for such growth and have a real chance to enjoy life to the fullest.”
