Ateneo confab develops the mind, body, heart
MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT), in honor of Fr. Joseph Galdon, SJ, announces its 44th Bi-Annual Conference entitled “Integrating Heart: The Humanistic Approach to Teaching English” to be held on Saturday, October 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
The conference aims to bring together teachers from elementary to college levels to consider humanistic principles in teaching English. This approach focuses on creative, engaging, and student-centered activities that develop not just language skills, but the whole person — mind, body, and heart.
Keynote speaker is Mina Patel, an International ELT consultant of the British Council. She has been working in education in various countries for 20 years as a trainer for trainers and teachers. Her interests include teacher and materials development.
The parallel workshops and their facilitators are: Workshop A: “The Playing’s The Thing” by Alexis Augusto Abola (Loyola Schools); Workshop B: “Passion and Compassion in Teaching: The Heart of Motivating and Inspiring Learners” by Ma. Luz Elena Canilao (Loyola Schools), Workshop C: “Enriching Writing Through Modeling” by Fe de Jesus (Ateneo High School), and Workshop D: Personalizing Classroom Experience by Rowena Andrada (Ateneo Grade School).
