Parco gives consumers the power of 'K'

MANILA, Philippines - Parco Supermarket’s 26th anniversary celebration dubbed “Pasikatan sa Parco Supermarket” turned from talent showdown to family day as parents and relatives flocked to Marikina Polytechnic College, showing support for their competing kids. “Pasikatan” was part of Parco’s anniversary-related series of activities Parco Fiesta.

Thunderous cheers and applause filled the school’s Ilagan Hall, as grade school and high school youths exhibited their skills in dancing and singing.

The anniversary celebration was held in cooperation with Unilever Philippines.

“Parco immerses itself in the community to better understand how to relate to the people they serve,” said Rei Tugade, Unilever’s major account executive for customer development. “That is why Parco and Unilever find it fitting to launch the ‘2010 Parco Fiesta, Pasikatan sa Parco,’ to recognize the untapped talented pool of our loyal consumers. Together, Parco and Unilever aim to further develop the community and empower the shoppers so that they can make more responsible choices.”

Parco Fiesta showcased the talents of eight groups representing eight branches of Parco.

“Since Parco has always been community-centric, we thought the best way to celebrate our anniversary is by recognizing the yet-to-be-discovered gifted youths from the communities we serve,” said Awie Eniceo, Parco marketing manager.

The crowd favorite and the judges’ choice was the team Dream Guyz from Parco’s Meycauayan branch. The team consisted of talented dancers James Russel Juson, Niko Mendenilla, Ryan James Alpaparao, Rafmharr Eustacio, Ryoichi Tsunefuji, Wesley Beo, Harold Imbo, Jhay jhay Jurado, Matthew Von Soriano, Byronel Anasco, Jonathan Barrios, Alvin delos Santos, Rj Pulalia, Kevin Ramos, Dennis Acosta, and Mark Jefferson Silvino.

As champions for this year’s competition, the winning group took home P30,000, tickets to watch Showtime live at ABS-CBN, gift certificates from Ricky Reyes, and Unilever grocery items.

Parco Fiesta was in line with the supermarket chain’s adage: “May ‘K’ ka sa Parco.”

“This competition reflects how we value each of our customers,” Awie explained. “We value their skills and, most of all, we value their individual needs as consumers.”

Aside from the talent competition involving the young ones, Parco laid out in-store value-added services for the parents.

“We have the ‘K-Suki’ loyalty program in which consumers’ accumulated points can be exchanged with grocery items,” Awie added. “It’s a two-tiered program targeting retail (K-pitbahay) and wholesale shoppers (K-negosyo).”

More, as part of the drive to empower the communities they serve, Parco will soon be launching a sari-sari store convention featuring modules that will help entrepreneurs with their businesses.

“We want to reach out and help our shoppers because Parco is a family-owned business, and we consider our customers an extension of that family,” said Awie. “Through budget-friendly goods and personalized service, we’re giving them a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.”
