Revolutionary software for medical industry launched

-

MANILA, Philippines - More and more companies are showcasing a wide range of medical-related technology portfolios with the promise of better quality healthcare. One of the latest developments for doctors, patients, and healthcare institutions is the launching of   LiFEDATA EMR Clinic software by LiFEDATA Systems, Inc.   Awarded the “Groundbreaking Technology of the Year” for Healthcare by DTI and CITEM at the E-Services Award 2008, it is a web-based electronic medical records system developed by Filipinos for Filipino modern-day clinical practice that will make it more efficient, secured, productive, paperless and borderless.

“LiFEDATA EMR Clinic manages the clinical, financial, and administrative functions of a healthcare organization; improves the quality of patient care and patient safety, and decreases incidences of medical errors,” says Malu Simeon- Florendo, LiFEDATA Systems president/CEO. Together with a clinical workstation and data repository, EMR provides storage and access to encrypted patient health information (PHI) for healthcare entities in a highly secured, redundant, HIPAA-compliant system.

Florendo explains, “What we offer are basically the following: For a doctor, the EMR Clinic software will simply modernize and organize his practice. Everything from scheduling appointments, patient encounter, SOAP charting, prescription writing; referrals to labs, hospital admission, and to other doctors, including billing, collection, and reporting summaries will all be done electronically. Charts with user-friendly icons and illustrations are used for the doctor to simply navigate by pointing and clicking on familiar yet customizable electronic medical templates. If the doctor chooses to use the web-based EMR Clinic Internet version, his patient records will be stored electronically in an online encrypted data repository accessible only through his secured username and password. Medical records will also be available for him to share with other doctors who are authorized users of the system. Lives can be saved especially in emergency situations when fast, accurate, and complete data are needed for proper administration of medical care. Medical practitioners such as doctors, dentists, physical therapists, and healthcare professionals will find EMR easy to use. They can just write or type on electronic forms, charts, and templates they are used to filling up. It works with any computer hardware, telecommunication service, and Internet service provider. If the doctor chooses the offline independent EMR capsule, his patients’ records will be efficiently filed and organized in his computer or workstation.”

She adds, “The EMR means better healthcare services for the patient. With an iPatient account, he will be able to access his lab results released by participating laboratories conveniently from his computer through LiFEDATA’s online portal, real time. He can collaborate with his doctors and request for medical certificates, medical records, and prescription online, and upload lab results. LiFEDATA EMR revolutionizes the delivery of healthcare for both doctors and patients through information technology.”

Florendo was the former CEO of MS Global Outsourcing whose 250-seat center used to do medical transcription jobs for the biggest players in the industry. “When I saw the market for medical transcription slowly evolving in the US, I immediately trained my team to shift to medical records summary and data encoding,” she notes.

Today, the EMR Clinic software has more than 3,000 registered users all over the world and with its endorsement and support of the Philippine Medical Association, LiFEDATA targets more than 15,000 users within the year.

LiFEDATA technology partners are Sun Cellular, PLDT, MyPhone, HTC, Acer, Neo, HP, and Bank of Philippine Islands.
