Print and conserve: Mantra for the environment

-

MANILA, Philippines - Canon has always incorporated into its manufacturing and corporate philosophy the proper care and conservation of the environment. Its products are manufactured in compliance with the highest international environmental standards, which include Energy Star certification (for energy efficiency) and the EU’s RoHS (controls on the use of hazardous materials).

Canon realizes that the whole lifecycle of a product can affect the amount of energy consumption and of pollutant and CO2 emission on the planet. For this, it undertakes efforts to reduce the amount of used energy and of pollutants and CO2 emitted by products from the stages of production (raw materials used, product design, and actual production), product use (transit and features), and recycling or disposal.

In line with this, Canon has developed compact cameras that use as few resources as possible; produced printers and copying machines that consume dramatically less energy; and drawn out programs on the collection, recycling, and proper disposal of used toner and ink cartridges.

In the manufacture of printer bodies and parts, recycled plastic and bio-plastic are used extensively to save on raw materials and energy to conserve the environment. This year’s latest models, made with more compact packaging compared to last year’s, will definitely conserve even more packaging materials.

The new PIXMA MP258 and MX347 printers have Quick Start and deliver excellent prints even when running on Fast Mode, which greatly saves on energy and ink. They also have the self-opening paper output tray feature to help avoid paper wastage. In the same way, the 4-in-1 and 2-in-1 printing capabilities of the PIXMA MP258 and MX347 surely drive back paper usage.
