2010 is the year to explore with Dora

-

MANILA, Philippines - This year is Dora the Explorer’s turn to hog the center stage. A worldwide celebration held recently in the USA launched a unique pro-social campaign titled “Beyond the Backpack” that champions overall school readiness for preschoolers.

The campaign will serve as the key component of Nickelodeon’s overall plan for 2010 which Nickelodeon is proclaiming as the year to explore with Dora the Explorer. It will consist of a PSA campaign featuring Salma Hayek Pinault and Dora herself; a fundraising auction of limited-edition Dora backpacks; financial grants; a dedicated web site with downloadable toolkits for parents and educators; and local community activities across the country. There will also be four prime-time TV specials; an original documentary produced by Academy Award-nominated Brett Morgen (The Kid Stays in the Picture); and new online Dora content for preschoolers and their parents.

Meanwhile, Nickelodeon is all set for an exciting on-the-ground event called “Explorers Wanted.” To be held on May 29 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the West Block of the Bonifacio High Street at The Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, this Nick-fied celebration will give Dora fans the opportunity to be in their heroine’s shoes by being “explorers” for a day through fun and play.

All kids and kids-at-heart are invited to come in their explorers outfit and go on the ultimate adventure — by land, water, and sea. They can “sail” away on a pirate adventure at the Treasure Lagoon, meet strange animals at the Jungleville, and feel the rush of flying at AirVenture. There will be lots of games, prizes, and surprises. Nicksters will get to see Dora, her best friend Boots, and cousin Diego!
