Countdown to Earth Hour

-

MANILA, Philippines - March is the month the world celebrates Earth Hour, a global initiative spearheaded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness on climate change. On the last Saturday of the month, participating companies, families, and individuals across the globe will turn off their non-essential lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time as a symbolic way of showing their support for the cause.

This year’s Earth Hour will have a special part for children through Kids’ Earth Hour, powered by Sustagen in partnership with WWF Philippines. On Saturday, March 27, starting at 6 p.m., Kids’ Earth Hour will bring back the enjoyment of outdoor play in order to get kids to unplug themselves from their televisions and computers for a while and have some fun outside. The event hopes to remind children of the fun in playing outdoors which helps build outstanding bodies.

Happening simultaneously on 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City; SM San Miguel by the Bay, SM Mall of Asia; and the Level 3, TriNoma Park, kids can play hopscotch, velcroman, and hopball; jump on giant trampolines; rock climb; Earth Walk; and go through giant spiderwebs. At 8:29 p.m., a 60-second countdown to the official Hour begins. By 8:30 p.m., kids will be treated to a shadow play and other Earth Hour activities.
