Ateneo hosts confab on changes in English language

MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo de Manila University hosts the 14th English in South East Asia (ESEA) Conference from Nov. 26 to 28 with the theme “English changing: implications for policy, teaching, and research.”

Keynote speakers are distinguished professionals in the field of language education: Dr. Ahmar Mahboob from the University of Sydney (Australia), Dr. Brian Morgan from York University (Canada), and Dr. Patricia Licuanan, president of Miriam College.

The ESEA conference series is the result of collaboration between the National Institute of Education (Singapore), the University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), the University of Brunei Darussalam, Curtin University (Perth, Australia), Ateneo de Manila University, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Sanata Dharma University (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), King Mongkut’s University of Technology at Thonburi, (Thailand), and the University of Waikato (New Zealand).

ESEA 2009 received support from the following institutions: British Council, Manila Bulletin, Ateneo Language Learning Center, Anvil Publishing House, and Phoenix Publishing House.
