'Save a Limb' free clinic launched
MANILA, Philippines - PNCC Foundation continues its commitment of offering free immunotherapy treatment for patients with non-curable diseases. The socio-civic arm of the Philippine National Construction Company (PNCC), the foundation’s initial project was using immunotherapy to treat diabetic gangrene patients.
Immunotherapy treats diseases by enhancing the body’s immune system in order to regenerate cells and heal affected tissues. The treatment process includes a strict diet and a regular intake of a nutritional supplement.
This month, PNCC Foundation launched “Save A Limb,” a free clinic for diabetic gangrene patients who are in need of assistance. “Save A Limb” is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Balintawak, Rotary Club of Clarkfield Pampanga, and the assistance of Kurihara Keitaro, chairman of World Patients of Incurable Diseases Supporting Society.
Gangrene is a foot infection caused by the progressive loss of blood supply in the feet. The most dreaded complication of diabetes, untreated gangrene results in amputation, where the grossly infected foot is cut off to prevent the infection from spreading to the rest of the body.
Gangrene patients from Quezon City and Pampanga gathered at the headquarters of the Rotary Club of Quezon City for treatment. According to Dr. Daniel Redona, the patients’ blood vessels began to heal within the treatment period. “After a few weeks, the infection was completely gone, and patients were able to have full use of their foot again,” he said.
The program was aptly called “Save A Limb,” mainly because the treatment prevents amputation. Up until now, some doctors resort to amputation to prevent the infection from spreading. With immunotherapy, affected cells are able to rebuild on their own. The infection heals and the cells are fully-regenerated.
PNCC Foundation is now offering free immunotherapy treatment for Alzheimer, autism, epilepsy, and stroke patients. Interested parties can call 638-7386 or text 0917-866-5314. Only limited slots are available.
