Wellness goes beyond the physical

One has to find time. One has to treat the person as a complete human being — not as a disease or as an ailing organ alone. My cardiologist mother still chides us when we grumble over the lengthy time she takes with her patients. “Healing entails more than treating the illness,” she explains. Certainly, we want to attain total wellness. “Nesvita’s goal is to help people achieve health and physical wellness through a holistic approach — targeting not only a healthy body, but also a sound mind and stable emotional health,” says Trina Abola, Nesvita consumer marketing team leader.

The Nesvita Wellness Tour is part of the “Choose Wellness, Choose Nestle” campaign, an advocacy effort aimed at building awareness on health achieved through proper nutrition and physical activity.

Model, jewelry designer and fashion icon Tweetie de Leon- Gonzales will grace the Nesvita Adult Wellness Tour, a six-month campaign to promote the importance of health and wellness in select malls in key cities. As Nestle Wellness advocate, the slim, tanned and fit mother of four leads an active life. She plays squash, does abdominal exercises and yoga.

Tweetie says that her children are learning the importance of a healthy lifestyle by example. “It’s not very difficult for my kids to be active because it’s what they see in their parents. My husband loves playing basketball and is an avid gym-goer. As a family, we love to play badminton which we do as much as we can.”

For this career mom, promoting wellness is not a task. “I may not be the ultimate health buff,” she smiles, revealing that she sometimes succumbs to the lure of rich desserts, “but the desire to help inspire others achieve a healthier lifestyle is there. I do my share in balancing nutrition and physical activity.”

Likewise, Tweetie believes that wellness involves a lot of factors — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well- being. “Not very many people know it, but my husband and I are very prayerful people. It helps a lot,” she reveals.
