Parents unite!

MOMMY TALK - MOMMY TALK By Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan -
The 2nd Philippine Parenting Convention convenors, organizers, and delegates unite, stand together and condemn in the strongest possible terms the spirit and intent behind the Napoleon brandy "Kinse Anyos" advertising campaign. As parents, it is our prime responsibility to nurture our families in the shelter of true community and to shield our spouses and our children from all attempts to corrupt their hearts and minds, to rob them of their innocence, their physical and emotional safety, and their right to decent society. Masquerading as "creative," the campaign is destructive, irresponsible, exploitative and indecent, a violent and vulgar assault on our vision to build morally righteous and enlightened communities. Its defiance of the AdBoard’s order to pull out the offensive ads shows disrespect and total disregard for accountability to society. Their actions are an affront to the advertising industry, self-regulated for over 25 years now. Our Lord Jesus Himself said, "Whoever causes even just one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." We who have ears would be wise to heed this warning. We now move to honor and follow through on our God’s intent. In solidarity with all God-fearing citizens, the 2nd Philippine Parenting Convention calls for the immediate pullout of the offensive "Kinse Anyos" campaign, and demands an apology from its authors and sponsors for foisting this venom upon our already polluted and toxic environment.
A Word About Intimacy
Hi Maricel!

 I’m James Baguio, a 34-year-old bachelor.

I was really glad to come across your
STAR column "Intimacy doesn’t really spell sex."

You have just reminded me of two things. The first one is why did God create me?

I am a Christian but at times wonder why am I here on earth. Why am I existing?

With all the problems and distractions, it’s so easy to get lost and lose direction, and live a life with no meaning. But keeping in mind that God created us because He wants to be intimate with us will change our perspective. That’s pure love. Given this, we should humble ourselves and take care of our relationship with Him, not letting material pleasure replace it.

What we do has eternal consequences.

Secondly, like the missionary in your story, we may try to convert people to Christianity.

But it is not us who does the converting.  Our job is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, "... that Christ died for our sins ... He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day ..." (I Corinthians 15:3-4). Anyone who firmly believes this Good News will be saved (1 Corinthians 15:2).
