The Philippine Heart Association (PHA), premier authority on cardiovascular health will hold its regular PUSO SA PUSO Media Forum at the EDSA Shagri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City on September 26, 2001, Wednesday, at 11:00 AM. For inquiries, call the Heart House at tel. 929-1161.
PHA Puso sa Puso Media Forum, a regular forum of the PHA and members of media aims to educate and update Filipinos on topics related to cardiovascular disease.
2nd World Heart Day on Sept. 30
To help people around the world live longer and better life through prevention and control of heart disease and stroke, the World Heart Federation (WHF) in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNESCO has declared September 30 as World Heart Day. On this day, 130 member societies of cardiology and heart foundations in 95 countries throughout the world, including the Philippines, will hold simultaneous physical fitness programs like walking, running, dancing, swimming, and aerobics to promote its 2001 motto "A Heart for Life."
The Philippine heart Association (PHA), a bonafide member of the WHF, in cooperation with the Department of Health (DOH) and the assistance from Astra Zeneca, Bayer, GSK, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Philippines, Novartis, Nestle Phils., United Laboratories, Roche, and Les Servier will hold a 5K Fun Run dubbed "Run for Fun, for Life" around Quezon Circle and UP Campus, Diliman to dramatize the 2nd World heart Day. The event will start 6:00 a.m. on September 30, 2001. Interested individuals may call the Heart House of the PHA (Tel. Nos. 929-1161 / 929-1166) for the details.
Everyone is encouraged to adopt the top ten tips for a healthy heart:
a) Things to do – 1. Exercise even in a little is better than none, 2. A better diet could improve your health, 3. Watch your weight, 4. Try to stop smoking, 5. Try to avoid stress;
b) Things to check – 6. have your blood pressure check, 7. Check if you’re diabetes, 8. Monitor your cholesterol levels, 9. Have an overall check-up
c) But most important – 10. Have a Heart for your Life. Look after your heart and tell your family and friends.
