Packable solar panels, chairs, tables wow in Dubai
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — International technology brand Acer recently swept the feet of the global press at its recent press conference in Dubai with its slew of packable furniture and new offerings made of recycled and recyclable materials.
The media, including Philstar.com, sat in benches made with recycled carton arranged into accordion pleats, which enable the multi-seating benches to be easily folded and packed away into the size of a brief case.
Similarly, the cocktail tables are made of recyclable paper with accordion pattern for easy folding and packing.
But among the exhibition’s pieces de resistance were the foldable solar panels that might be light and thin, but can actually store a lot of power to charge many of Acer’s generators, with each generator capable of providing power to a household for up to two weeks.
“These smart solutions are mostly eco-friendly: they save the time, saves the energy and make people live smarter and better,” Acer Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jason Chen said of the brand’s new lifestyle offerings, including the packable solar panels.
The launch also marked the introduction of the company’s platform Climate Lab, an ecosystem of solutions for human needs. Through the platform, the brand aims to connect more devices at home to transform the home into a smart home or “e-home.”
The company, said Chen, has more than 300 patents on thermal technology, which is also included in the production of the generators and the packable solar panels.
According to him, retailers were excited when shown the brand’s new battery cells with different sizes and capabilities, which are not only energy-saving but also energy-storing.
As part of its net-zero commitment, Acer is expanding its presence in the energy storage industry, offering solutions across the supply chain, from household to industrial use, manufacturing to application, and front-of-to-behind-the-meter solutions to contribute to the energy transition. With its investment in battery cell technologies, the company unveiled new energy storage solutions that extends its portfolio.
According to Chen, they are getting an increasing demand for solar panels especially in Europe. Since it is not always sunny in Europe, people there want to maximize the energy of their minimal sunlight.
“It’s a dream come true to have all homes run on conscious technology and powered by renewable energy,” Michael Birkin, Chief Executive Officer of kyu, the strategic operating unit of Japanese advertising and communications group Hakuhodo DY Holdings, said during the launch.
