Polaroid unveils line up of Android devices
MANILA, Philippines --Polaroid, a renowned brand of instant film cameras and digital cameras, has forayed into the market of smart mobile devices by introducing its own arsenal of Android-based smartphones and tablets.
Comprising Polaroid's much-anticipated line-up are various dual SIM Android-based touchscreen phones including the PROG16 and PRO4611, and tablet devices Executive 9.7 and Quad7.
Polaroid's latest innovations sport a thin, lightweight, and professional-looking design and are powered by processors meant to allow users to enjoy fast downloads, multimedia application access and Web browsing.
Coupled with ultra-capacitive touchscreen panels, Polaroid's devices promise long battery life and enable users to listen to mp3s, download movies, make calls and browse the Web.
The front and rear cameras capture vivid images which can be viewed on larger screens such as HDTVs and projectors through the built-in HDMI. A 3.5mm audio jack lets users connect to speaker systems for a stunning audio experience.
Polaroid said it developed its latest innovations to suit every imaginable budget.
At P5,995, the quadcore-powered, 7-inch Quad7 tablet can be a budget-friendly option for students’ e-book reading and social media needs.
For an additional P5,795, the PRO4611 single-core smartphone can be bundled together with the Quad7 – described by Polaroid as a savvy way to complete one’s back-to-school mobile experience.
For users who prefer more sophisticated gadgets, Polaroid offers the Executive 9.7 tablet and PROG16 smartphone as fitting choices.
The Executive 9.7 and PROG160 retail at P9,995 and P6,995, respectively.
The 9.7-inch tablet has an ultrathin frame of 9.8m and has multitouch features that allow users to play new games and work on different applications through a variety of hand gestures.
Adding to the tablet's usability, its keyboard brings a true notebook experience for increased maneuverability and productivity.
Running the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system, the Executive 9.7 is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB DDR3 RAM.
In terms of storage, Polaroid loaded the Executive 9.7 with 4GB internal memory which can be expanded to 32GB through the tablet’s microSD slot.
Equipped with a USB port, the tablet allows for connectivity with flash drives, portable hard drives, and 3G dongles for wireless connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi.
Featuring a dual camera system, the Executive 9.7 captures images with its main camera and supports video calls with is front-facing camera.
Meanwhile, the Polaroid PROG160 is a five-inch smartphone that comes with a capacitive touchscreen display. It ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS that works with its 1GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM.
The smartphone's dual SIM feature lets a user have personal and work information isolated from each other on a single device and without the need for another smartphone. Its 5-megapixel rear camera can take images while the front-facing camera allows face-to-face communication via video calls.
For entertainment use, the PROG160 has a built-in FM radio, and can play MP3 and MP4 multimedia content.
