Pinoy online music store launched

- Aaron Erick Lozada -

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino music enthusiasts welcome the country’s first online music store in a star-studded launch at Robot Restaurant and Lounge on January 22. Notable music artists such as Zia Quizon, Bamboo, Ely Buendia, Richard Poon, and Gary Valenciano graced the occasion.

MyMusicStore.com.ph, managed by MobileCash Inc. and Rising Tide Mobile Entertainment Inc., is a one-stop mega-shop for all your music download needs. It currently has an initial catalogue of over 160,000 songs, both local and foreign, showcasing a variety of genres.

It’s about time

While thousands, or even millions, of song choices are available for download, several regional restrictions confine Filipinos to a very limited song choice. Also, only a few Filipino records are available for download online.

With the launching of MyMusicStore.com.ph, Filipino artists were introduced to the global music market with their music records easily available for global consumption.

"It's about time. I hope the kids can really consider supporting the local music scene the right way," rockstar Bamboo said in an interview.

The fight against music piracy

Filipino music artists are the ones most hit by the illegal downloading of music, not to mention the proliferation of street vendors selling pirated CDs.

"Kailangan namin makaisip ng paraan na labanan ang piracy. So naisip namin itong online music store, pwede silang bumili ng kanta sa halagang P20 to P35 lang," said John Alonte, CEO of Rising Tide Mobile Entertainment Inc.

"We will be providing them with a great experience and exclusive content. We will release songs first, and other experiences that would make it worth their purchase," he added.

Accessibility and affordability

MyMusicSore.com.ph focuses on making music affordable and accessible, and delivering quality service to music lovers everywhere.

Eliza Tan, CEO of MobileCash Inc., emphasized the accessibility and affordability of online downloads from MyMusicSore.com.ph.

“Our advantage is that we offer a variety of local songs that are not available in other online music stores. Each song costs around 20 to 35 pesos. They can be purchased through PayPal, credit card, or mobile load,” said Tan.

Tan said that they took into consideration a good number of Filipinos who do not have credit cards. The mobile load payment option makes MyMusicSore.com.ph even more accessible to the local consumers.
