Globe takes iPhone mania to the next level

MANILA, Philippines - The iPhone mania rages on as the latest addition to the Apple product portfolio, the much-anticipated iPhone 4S, was officially unveiled by Globe at the stroke of midnight at the Ayala Museum recently.

The Globe launch countdown to the official release of the iPhone 4S was a night of glitz and glamour as the country’s most beautiful people in fashion and entertainment as well as society’s crème de la crème came in droves, all eager to lay their hands on the much-sought after gadget.

The VIP guests and mobile addicts jammed and grooved to the music of international DJ/ producer Kaskade, top video DJ ChrisMyk and the country’s number one DJ and remixer, DJ FunkAvy wrapping the Ayala Museum area with the ultimate party atmosphere.

Uber-fabulous model Alex Escat was an early bird, sashaying into the VIP hall with her lovely, towering presence. Also spotted were gorgeous heartthrobs Xian Lim of the top-rating My Binondo Girl and the hunk known for his countless advocacies, Diether Ocampo.

Events guru Tim Yap heightened the social glitter of the Globe countdown all the more, bringing with him his lovely battalion of celebrity friends.

Top hairstylist Jing Monis, model and host Bianca Valerio, model Carlos Concepcion, TV actor Mikael Daez, Philippine Azkals member Jason Sabio, media personality Cito Beltran, beauty expert Agoo Bengzon, racing champ Marlon Stockinger, and woman of style Cristalle Henares also lent their glittering presence to the Globe countdown, making the event more special and star-studded.

The guests and subscribers immensely enjoyed the Globe countdown party, making it a trending topic on Twitter with thousands saying a thing or two about how the event was so big and successful!

Ten minutes before midnight, Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu took center stage and proudly revealed why Globe is the perfect partner for Apple’s newest baby. Acknowledging the huge crowd that excitedly waited until midnight, Cu instructed Siri, the newest feature of the iPhone 4S which acts as the user’s virtual personal assistant, to initiate the countdown in the last 10 seconds to midnight to officially launch the iPhone 4S to the cheers and wild applause of the subscribers and party-goers!

As the clock struck 12 signaling the release of the first iPhone 4S units, eager subscribers trooped to the Globe flagship store in Greenbelt and queued to get their units as the rest of the party people stayed on to enjoy the music of DJ FunkAvy, in what could probably be one of the best, most fabulous and celebrity-filled parties of the year.

But what made the iPhone 4S experience even sweeter for Globe customers was the exclusive trade-in scheme for existing iPhone users who want to upgrade their Apple devices for the ultimate experience. Users of Globe-issued iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 in good working condition traded in their units, which was then applied and treated as a discount for qualified purchases or availments of iPhone 4S at designated Globe stores and launch venues.

Immediately after the countdown party, Globe launched the iPhone 4S in multiple venues to bring the device closer to more customers — at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila for Globe Platinum customers; the Bonifacio Global City for Metro Manila customers; the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu for Cebu-based subscribers; and at the Corporate Showroom at Globe Valero Telepark for Globe Business customers.

Over 20 Globe stores were also transformed to accommodate claiming of pre-ordered iPhone 4S units and answer customer queries complete with full-service sales facilities, a genius bar to download apps and load-up their newly-purchased iPhone 4S devices, and competent Globe Stores personnel who ably lent a helping hand to each Globe subscriber, ensuring that every customer was happy and satisfied.

On top of this, Globe customers had the choice of how to get Apple’s most exciting device yet. Most picked up their iPhone 4S during the launch date, others picked up their gadgets at select Globe stores, while there were some who had their units delivered right at their doorstep.
