The hottest in house, techno and electro

-

MANILA, Philippines - The past eight months have been hectic. I have been trying to tune up, gear up and prepare for a massive year of events. The lineup is almost set and so far we have five major events, two of them major concerts: the American teen band Boys Like Girls, followed by Owl City.

I have searched for the latest and hottest released tunes for this month from House and Techno to Electro and Trance, and want to share them with you.

Now, remember to download these tunes legally — simply through iTunes or Beatport.

For House there’s Go Cat Go by Michael Morph, defined as electro house. From Nottingham, Morph precedes his forthcoming album on Pure Mint with his single from it, Big Basslines and Pummeling Kicks. In Black is by Danny Howells, who gets props for his lengthy and diverse DJ sets on his Dig Deeper club nights. Feels So Good To Be Alive by the Ibizan Knights’ Jason Fubar and Christian Davies on their 2008 release has been remixed by the label themselves and Filthy Louca. N/A’s Feat Rosina meanwhile is a hit on many dance floors across Europe produced by Nick Murray and Adam Marshall (a.k.a. N/A). It’s a classy piece of Leftfield house with grunty, snorty basslines, subtle melodies, live-sounding drumbeats and a vocal performance from Rosina that shines.

For Techno, there’s Bite the Dust by Timo Maas, a great release from his new label; and Memory Box Spinning by Damian Lazarus, his first remix from his much-talked-about debut album earlier this year, also featuring remixes from him and Sasha.

For Electro there’s Muchuu with a new single called Somebody Tell Me; the title track is beautifully dreamy, but let’s be clear about this track as it’s for after-hours background music and not a club system. Hot Girl by Dominique is young and unique; the comparisons between this 18-year-old vocalist from Florida and Santigold are justified.

For Trance there’s Phuture Sound featuring Angie with the great track Come to Me; Romanian producer Alex Tuduran has been about for a while now, but he’s worth getting acquainted with. DT8 Project, with their single As the Days Grow Old; Citizen Caned and Jurgen Vries are two of UK’s best-loved and longest serving members of the Trance community with a great chart and huge underground success. Blacks was voted a great track by many Trance DJs recently, produced by Deep Care’s Alper Ozturk who was championed by A&B (Above & Beyond) right before he was snapped up by British label Infrasonic. Now getting a glossy remix package for the download stores, it has a slow buildup but it gets the butterflies going just like Trance number should and develops into a rich, warm track from a deceptively simple break.

And remember: Ferry Corsten will make his way to take Manila on a Trance and progressive journey with the Innovation Black Party on May 21 at A Venue, Makati City.
