10 looks for the Hermès man

Chonx Tibajia - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A “chic” man is a rare find. We are not in Paris, after all, where a man can wear slim cigarette pants cropped exactly at the ankle, rock a fitted cardigan, pull off the no-socks-look and still look like he runs on testosterone.

The Beckhams and Pitts of the world aside, mankind, in general, does not aspire to be chic. But ask a woman, any woman, and she would say there is no shame in caring about the thread count of a suit, or demanding to only wear trousers ironed so perfectly that they keep that singular crease that runs down the middle of each leg all day, or bothering to know the difference between Cerulean, Prussian and Azure. This does not intimidate us, or make you less attractive in our eyes –– if anything, a man who cares about how he dresses would make us want to level up on our fashion as well. We can swap blazers, pants, even smoking loafers if we happen to have the same shoe size. Having your cake and raiding its closet too? Now that’s a good deal.

Take a hint from these covetable new looks from the spring/summer 2013 collection of Hermès –– they can make you look as sharp as a Scott Schuman muse, and as desirable to the la-dies as a suited-up Ryan Gosling. Okay, the latter’s kind of a stretch, but it’s worth a try. For spring/summer, Hermès plays on rich hues like Prussian blue, lime and pimento in a decadent interplay of cotton, calfskin, fine wool, silk and lambskin. Here are some of the best looks from the collection, available at the Hermès boutique in Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati.
