MANILA, Philippines - Urban sophistication rules Celio’s summer collection, with slick separates spun with a vintage awareness.
Yellow zest, frosted orange, and blackcurrant sorbet ground the celio*chromie color palette seen on all the basic styles, but especially in the label’s close-fitting polo neck.
Inspired by the true grit of Brooklyn railways, ‘50s rockabilly meets the neo-industrial age, channelling the spirit of adventure in downtown New York. The campus-inspired Teddy jacket comes back to life in a faithfully vintage version, complete with shrunken proportions, striped cuffs and collars, and varsity lettering. To continue the old-school feel, sweats are printed and patched, T-shirts are printed as well in faded washes, knits are pigment-dyed and stone-washed as well as given Tunisian collars, all revolving around a key piece: the blue checked shirt. Neutral beige, khaki and gray offset red and coral, while blue remains a key color, either in indigo, or lighter cornflower shades marking its jean selection. Other hot silhouettes include the army cotton parka (worn with turned-up Bermudas) and a suit waistcoat, all done up in distressed, bleached, patched, or well-worn fabric treatments.
Moving on to an Australian persuasion, the Sydney Aero Cruise-inspired sub-collection moves with the cosmopolitan feel of yachting, for sporty pieces with a technical execution.
For more dressed-up occasions, a Central Park-inspired sub-collection boasts urban chic pieces in modern lines. These include the sport polo — revitalized in jersey, microprinted peach cotton stretch shirts, pullovers with interest collars, five-pocket slacks, dark denim jeans, slim-fit suits, and all manner of outerwear, from a trench coat belted at the waist or a summer mac in tones of gray, blue and beige in homage to the Sixties, as well as light wool jackets and Harrington jackets.
Finally, an electric feel runs through Celio’s Tokyo-club inspired sub-collection. Silhouettes dare to go into slimmer territory, as is the look in the Asian destination, for a fitted, fashion-forward wardrobe that mixes black and white with pops of turquoise, pink and purple.
