MANILA, Philippines – Nike has a long history of developing and promoting the game of basketball with a focus on creating opportunities for athletes at all skill levels. Now Nike introduces a collection that includes the Nike Dream Season, Nike Zoom Solider III XDR and the Ultimate Pure Grip ball, all designed specifically for the outdoor game in Asia Pacific.
Knowing that a majority of basketball is played outdoors in the fall season, the Nike design team visited hot and dusty outdoor courts in the region to observe the outdoor game. There they observed that footwear and equipment took a beating. Players didn’t like wearing bulky, stiff and heavy hoops shoe and instead were looking for products that could withstand the hard courts while being lightweight, durable and providing cushioning. In response, a new collection of outdoor basketball products was created for Asia Pacific.
The Nike Dream Season, designed with input from Kobe Bryant, shares his passion for basketball with players throughout Asia Pacific and gives them the opportunity to live out their dreams on the outdoor court. Both lightweight and durable, sleek and aggressive, the upper is constructed of spacer mesh, providing the ultimate heat management similar to the Nike Zoom Kobe IV and engineered with LunarLite foam in the forefoot.
The Nike Zoom Solider III XDR is both lightweight and strong, able to withstand the pounding of outdoor play. Constructed lower to the ground with a breathable mesh upper, thinner outsole and lightweight Phylon midsole, it’s extremely responsive and doesn’t sacrifice on performance.
Meanwhile, the hot and dusty outdoor courts here require a ball with a grip that lasts. Designed specifically to give the outdoor basketball player better ball control, the Ultimate Pure Grip Ball maintains an indoor feel.
The Ultimate Pure Grip Ball is engineered with pebbly grips inspired by industrial diamond plating. With unique rounded valleys between each pebble that won’t collect dirt like traditional patterns, the new pebbly grips are perfect for outdoor playing. Each ball is infused with an ionized compound that creates a lasting anti-static effect that actually repels dirt from outdoor courts.
