‘Mabigat!’: SB19 on hardest dance challenge yet — dancing with fried chicken!

Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — There is no way but up for SB19, especially when it comes to the level of difficulty of their dance moves.

The “Kings of P-pop” made their own choreography and directed their own music video for their commercial as new endorsers of international fast food chain McDonald’s.

“Actually, mahirap! Sobrang hirap!” Josh said when Philstar.com asked the group how was it dancing while holding fried chicken.

“Totoo ‘yung mas juicier kasi mag-ju-juice talaga sa kamay mo,” added Stell.

“Kasi mabigat eh! Mabigat ‘yung chicken!” Pablo shared.

The hardest part of the dance, said Josh, was keeping themselves from being tempted to eat the chicken while dancing.

“Ang pinakahirap po doon kapag mainit pa tapos natatakam ka pero hindi mo pa pwedeng kainin,” said Josh.

“Ang bango!” Josh and Stell said in unison.

According to Josh, some scenes took many takes, while others just took a few to shoot.

When Philstar.com asked how much chicken they ate while shooting, Stell said: “Nakain? Marami, yes!”

“Marami naman po,” Justin said about how many chicken pieces they finished while shooting.

“Marami naman po kasi nagluluto sila habang ginagawa ‘yung shoot,” Pablo bared.

If dancing with fried chicken was not enough, SB19, in fact, even wanted to dance while holding hot or newly cooked ones.

“Mas gusto namin ‘yung mainit,” Felip said.

The commercial jingle, Josh admitted, was not written by them because they were so busy, but by their trusted producers and writers.

“But nilagyan na rin po namin ng sariling touches s’yempre ‘yung parts, paano namin hinati, pa’no namin kinanta,” he explained.

Felip shared what he feels whenever he sees their billboard showing them dancing with the chicken.

“Yes po, lagi kong nakikita. Actually, ‘pag nagdradrive nga ako, nakikita ko sa tabi, sabi ko, ‘Uy!’,” he said, making other members laugh, as if remembering a funny memory that is only a secret among themselves.

“Minsan na-babad-trip ako!” he joked, “Pero blessing naman ‘yun saka pogi naman kami d’un!”

“Ang laki eh!” Pablo exclaimed when Philstar.com asked what makes the fast food chain’s fried chicken special for them.

“Ang pinakagusto ko po talaga ‘yung malaki, kasi ako po, laging dalawa ang kanin ko eh.”

“Higante!” Josh added.

“Parang dinosaur!” Stell butted in, “Dinosaur chicken!”

According to him, fried chicken has been their favorite since childhood. For him, the chicken is not only big in terms of size, but also when it comes to the happiness it brings.

“I think, before, eating chicken is more of for celebration or parang super festive nu’ng feeling. But now, super affordable kasi at sobrang sulit, so every time, you feel like there’s a big celebration or something big every time you eat chicken. Kaya ‘yun, super big ang chicken.”

When asked if their lives also became “bigger and better” after becoming the fast food chain’s endorser, Josh said: “S’yempre po! Crunchy na crunchy!”

“Much better, mas malaki ang aming puso ngayon!” added Justin.
