In photos: Chinese New Year treats at Quezon City Chinatown Banawe fair
MANILA, Philippines — It's the first day of the Year of the Wood Dragon, and for those who are still in the metro and looking to celebrate the Chinese New Year, they can head on to Banawe in Quezon City.
A portion of the street actually hosts an ongoing three-day fair. Happening until Sunday, February 11, the fair crosses the intersection of Linaw and Banawe Streets, where red tents and Chinese lanterns welcome fairgoers.
There are about 40 vendors who sell Chinese New Year treats, including Tikoy or Nian Gao, Sotanghon, Fried Siopao and Tanghulu, a popular treat of skewered candied fruits.
Some of Quezon City's famous Chinese restaurants, such as David's Tea House and Mandarin Sky, also have their own tents where they sell their best-selling food items, such as David's Tea House dumplings or Mandarin Sky's XO Sauce.
Maki Haus also offers steaming bowls of its popular Maki-Mi as well as Fresh Lumpia, Hipon Rebusado and Maki.
