What’s on the Menu? 100 flavors of éclair at Crimson Hotel

MANILA, Philippines – On Feb. 5, Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Manila, is setting a world record by showcasing 100 flavors of éclair — choux pastry filled with cream and topped with icing — at grand lobby The Gallery. For a very limited time, this sweet spectacle will feature all-time favorite flavors and more creative ones like Vanilla Mousse with Honeycomb, Mixed Berry Yoghurt Mousse, Malt Ball Crunch, Hershey’s Dream, Toblerone, Wonka Bar, Chocolate Whisky Caramel, Cheese and Chive, Strawberries and Cream, Leche Flan, English Tea and Vanilla, Black Forest, Chocolate Ganache, Rocky Road, Vanilla Cheesecake, Salted Caramel, Caramelized Banana, Rum Raisin, Cheddar and Sweet Onion, Triple Chocolate, Passion Fruit, Ham and Cheese, Tira Tira (classic Filipino candy), Black Currant and a whole lot more (visit crimsonhotel.com/manila for the complete list of flavors). “100 Flavors of Éclair” runs until Feb. 14, selling at P100 per piece and in boxes of five for P450 net.

Special set menu for Chinese New Year at Makati Shangri-La Manila

Makati Shangri-La, Manila presents the traditional lion and dragon on Chinese New Year’s Eve, Feb. 7 at 11 p.m., and on Chinese New Year’s Day on Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m. Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s nian gao (tikoy) comes in shapes of prosperity: fish and the traditional gold bar and in mango or peanut flavor, available until Feb. 8. Shang Palace offers a special set menu on Feb. 7 and 8. The Gold menu is priced at P2,288+, Platinum at P3,688+, Jade at P4,688+ and Diamond at P6,688+ per head.  Each set includes appetizers, soup, a main course and desserts. There is also a Festive Dimsum Buffet with unlimited dimsum in the Isabela Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for P1,688+ per person.

Lion’s head meatballs at Manila Pavilion Hotel

Manila Pavilion Hotel offers artfully prepared Chinese specialties for Chinese New Year. Some of the dishes are Lion’s Head Meatballs, giant meatballs wrapped in a mane of steamed cabbage; jiaozi, traditional Chinese dumplings; fruits such as grapes, pomelo and tangerine; fresh greens like spinach, lettuce and cabbage; nian gao (tikoy); and long noodles.   On Feb. 8, there will be a lion and dragon dance, coin shower, and an oriental food fest at the lobby before 6 p.m. At Seasons, there is a Chinese buffet available at a special discount.
