Marco Polo Ortigas adds three new sandwiches to its menu, including the signature dish: Café Pronto’s Signature Hot Ham. The  Café Pronto Sandwich menu includes items like French Ham and Cheese Sandwich and the Parma Ham, Cheddar and Apple Sandwich. The new sandwiches are made à la minute with a choice among sundried tomato focaccia, soft rye honey loaf, ciabatta, or bacon and Parmesan bread. The Cakery opens at SM Megamall

The Cakery kiosk  offers gourmet cakes and pastries created by Marta Quimson-Soler, who studied architectural interior design at London’s Inchbald School of Design and has a Physical Education degree from UP Diliman. The Cakery offers

mango panna cotta, chocolate decadent cake with caramel sauce, and her no-bake cheesecake, which are all bestsellers. Other specialties include New York cheesecake, key lime pie, carrot pineapple cake with cream-cheese icing and coconut topping.  “I don’t skimp on ingredients,” says Marta Quimson-Soler. “All the cakes at The Cakery are must-tries.”

P29 hot rice meals at Ministop

Ministop offers Toppers — hot rice meals topped with a choice of viand. Toppers are priced between P29 and P50 and can be upgraded to a combo meal that comes with a drink for an additional P12. Another meal option is Uncle John’s Fried Chicken, either as a solo meal or in a bucket. Sandwiches include the classic hotdog sandwich served in a  soft bun with a choice of garnishes. Balinese, Hunan and Szechuan cuisine at City of Dreams Manila 

City of Dreams Manila brings in guest chefs to offer Indonesian, Hunan and Szechuan regional specialties at three of its restaurants: chef Alexi Bloem at the Red Ginger (ongoing until Aug.20), Luo Yong Hui at Crystal Dragon (Aug. 24-Sept.2), and chefs from the Hyatt Regency Chongqing The Café at Hyatt (Aug. 24-Sept. 6). At Red Ginger the authentic Balinese dishes by chef Bloem include Be sampi mesisit megulung lan lawar nyuh (shredded beef with chili and shrimp paste, rolled and served with grated coconut salad) and Be siap betutu, kacang kalas nasi putih (famous Balinese chicken dish in banana leaf served with marinated long bean and steamed rice), among others, which will be offered in a special a la carte menu available for lunch and dinner. 

The Hunan Classics at Crystal Dragon (Aug. 24 to Sept. 2) for lunch and dinner include delicacies liked Chilled Autumn Pork Ear Marinated in Hunan Vinegar; Double Boiled Pigeon with Morel Mushroom Soup and Braised Pork Belly with Leeks and Chili in Hunan Province Style. This rarely experienced selection of the master chef’s Hunan specialties will be concluded with a lineup of Hunan-style desserts, including Chilled Double Flavor of Green and Red Bean Pastry and Sweetened Soft Snow Skin Pumpkin Dumpling, among others.  At Hyatt City of Dreams from Aug. 24 to Sept. 6 there will be authentic Szechuan dishes including Wok-Fried Sweet & Sour Prawns, Gong Bao Style; Poached Grouper with Hot Chili Sauce; Wok-Fried Shredded Pork Loin with Sweet and Sour Sauce; and Crispy Chicken with Numbing Pepper, Chilies and Peanuts, among others.
