A taste of One Direction through Villa Del Conte

Just in time for the British boy band’s Manila concert this month, Villa Del Conte presents a limited-edition set of One Direction chocolate bars, with a different flavor for each member.

Harry Styles tastes like dark chocolate with salted caramel: mysterious, full-bodied, with the right amount of sweetness. At least, that’s according to premier chocolatier Villa Del Conte, which has crafted a personalized chocolate flavor for Harry and the rest of his band mates in One Direction.

Just in time for the British boy band’s Manila concert this month, Villa Del Conte presents a limited-edition set of One Direction chocolate bars, with a different flavor for each member. Both Harry’s and Niall Horan’s come in dark chocolate with salted caramel. Liam Payne’s, Louis Tomlinson’s, and Zayn Malik’s variants are available in the sweeter milk chocolate-with-cereals flavor. The group chocolate bar, which features a photo of the whole band, comes in milk chocolate with hazelnut chips. Each bar can be purchased at P295 each, while the complete set of six can be purchased at P1,480.

There’s certainly a flavor to appeal to any Directioner’s taste profile, and even more so for the wrappers’ distinct designs. Each chocolate bar is adorned with each member’s photo with their signature, and charming doodles that allude to something about them. (Zayn’s chocolate bar wrapper, for one, has etchings of swallows that match the bird tattoo on his right hand.)

Villa del Conte CEO Rose Tantoco explains these designs were as painstakingly planned as the chocolate flavors themselves. “We wanted something that the fans can collect. They might even get to do something creative with them or frame them,” Tantoco says. “That’s why it was also important that we used the most recent photos of them.”

No word yet if these sweet treats will be sold during the band’s concert at the Mall of Asia Arena on March 21 and 22, but they’re already flying off the Villa Del Conte shelves all over the city. With flavors and designs that appeal to the eye and any sweet tooth, it comes as no surprise that everyone wants a taste. To paraphrase some of the boys’ well-loved lyrics, it’s about time we find the kind of chocolate that can get out (get out, get out) of our heads and fall into our mouths instead.
