Andres offers modern Philippine cuisine

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Chic Filipino fusion cuisine is now available in Makati. From the partners of Botongs in A Venue comes Andres, a restaurant that presents revolutionary Filipino cuisine in a casual fine-dining setting. The restaurant takes inspiration from the Philippine Revolution and Andres Bonifacio in presenting a hip new spin on classic dishes such as adobo, pinakbet, and bulalo. Located along Chino Roces, a stone’s throw away from the trendiest art galleries and a few minutes away from the Makati Business District, Andres is poised to take the world of fine cuisine by storm.

Head chef and Andres partner Ronnel Doguiles has put together a menu that truly represents the best in modern Philippine cuisine. The partners of Andres (Jerome Jimenez, Luis Campos, Neil Gonzales, Thelma Ramirez, Rondel Cruz, Jimmy Jimenez and Bong Versoza) have culled together five years of experience in running the popular Botongs and put together an upscale yet casual restaurant that features a stylish and sophisticated dining area and bar. Dishes have puns that reflect the Philippine revolution that inspired the theme, such as the delicate Lapu Lapu ni Andres and the hearty crispy tadyang ni Teresa. A fully-stocked bar holds experienced bartenders that can create the most delectable drink concoctions while diners are surrounded by fantastic pieces of Philippine contemporary art. The warmth of the spectacular interior only enhances the dining experience. An al fresco area gives diners a chance to savor the extraordinary food in an outdoor environment, while inside are large-screen television sets for watching the latest sporting events. A loft on the second floor overlooks the area, and also gives diners privacy for business power lunches or intimate dinner dates.

The opening of Andres featured a veritable who’s who of foodies and artists who’ve come for the famous dishes of chef Ronnel. Actress Yam Concepcion hosted the festivities, which was graced by Makati Mayor Jun Binay, Makati Congresswoman Abby Binay-Campos, Solar Sports Head Wilson Tieng, the Makati chief of Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, the chief of the PNP’s public information office Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, and renowned visual artist Tam Austria and renowned writer Cid Reyes.

Andres is located at the ground floor of the Patriarch Building, 2224 Chino Roces corner Don Bosco Street, Makati City.
