The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “Bakery Fair Philippines 2013,” the seventh international exhibition on bakery, confectionery and foodservice equipment and supplies, was recently held at the World Trade Center. This year’s expo also played host to the Bakers’ Cup Philippines 2013 Bread-Making Competition finals, a two-day affair where amateur and professional bakers ranging from 18 to 55 years old vied for the chance to compete internationally and represent the Philippines.

In the newly launched “Steamed Bun Competition” category, done in collaboration with Angel Yeast, Nicole Mendoza and Marcelo Vargas of Liberty Foodmart, took home first and second place respectively, Eugene Tan of Monteland Hopia Bakery took home third place.

For the “Original Bread Competition,” Dae Grande of Fairmont Hotel in Makati City won both the first and the California Raisin Special Category prizes, while Reynante “Kemp” Cimanes of CaféFrance and Eliseo Calbay of Hotel Intercontinental Manila won second and third prize, respectively.
