Chooga in a Wise Pack
MANILA, Philippines - The Wise Pack, a pliable and compact, slim and lightweight packaging alternative, was patented by a Filipino businessman-inventor and is made of soft plastic material. The Wise Pack is so economical especially for developing country like the Philippines.
Wilson D. Go, a Filipino-Chinese businessman, concluded that the key lies in significantly reducing the combined direct and indirect costs associated with traditional packaging. WDG, as he is known, undertook an extensive search for packaging alternatives from around the world, and found a packaging container made of soft plastic and shaped like a pillow that significantly reduced the packaging material, but unfortunately, it did not have the capability to stand.
WDG worked with packaging engineers to develop his own version. Finally, after years of investing considerable time and money, WDG gave birth to his own minimalist design — a pouch that lent itself to stacking horizontally and can also stand on its own like a bottle. He also extended the spout to serve as a built-in straw. For this innovation, WDG was awarded two patents for industrial use and design for seven years.
The Wise Pack uses an outer PET and inner PE lining to provide a good barrier and a long shelf-life.
There are at least seven benefits and advantages from using the Wise Pack over traditional containers. These are that these packs lower packaging costs, are safer than glass containers and cleaner than soda plastic bags, easier to use and open, can be chilled or frozen, occupies less space and weighs less, cools faster and better and most importantly, the packs are environmentally friendly.
The first beverage brand to utilize Wise Pack is called Chooga Juice, which was launched in a limited test market beginning this year. Chooga is a creative spelling of the English phrase “chug-a†meaning to enjoy and swallow without pausing.
Chooga has a higher juice content than most brands, and comes in the three flavors, orange, mango, and pineapple, plus two unique fruits-flavors, pomelo and sweet tamarind.
