Let’s go, Team O
MANILA, Philippines - O, Wow” moments are those times when you realize something you never knew, get something you never expected or are just surprised at the turn of events in your life. At least that’s what I think.
I first encountered the term “O, Wow” in an Oishi event when they started their campaign to make the brand better known in the country. It was an event where Elmo Magalona was introduced as an Oishi brand ambassador. Since then, the brand ambassadors have included various personalities that exemplify the “O, Wow” feeling when one snacks on Oishi.
Meet Team O, a unique group of Oishi-loving individuals from different parts of the media and entertainment industry out to save us from the humdrum of life. The team is made up of Oishi brand ambassador Elmo Magalona; eventologist and well-known personality Tim Yap; incomparable funny man and Internet sensation Ramon Bautista; Rock Ed Philippines founder Gang Badoy; and boy-next-door heartthrob Slater Young.
Elmo Magalona and Tim Yap took to the skies in a chopper and showered Marcelo H. del Pilar High School in Bulacan with thousands of Oishi snacks last July 20. Moments later, the chopper landed, Elmo and Tim stepped out of it and surprised the kids with an impromptu concert.
One of the reasons why people are so taken by funnyman Ramon Bautista is his knack for the element of surprise. An authentically Oishi oblation run took place at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines on Aug. 31. On top of that, the runners had snacks attached to their bodies that the students could grab.
Today, you can’t talk about a surprise without thinking of the ever-popular flash mob, which took place in the Glorietta food court last Sept. 26 with a performance by popular OPM band Sandwich. Always the advocate for social change, Rock Ed’s founder, Gang Badoy, took the opportunity to promote anti-bullying, saying that an O, Wow! life is one full of respect and dignity.
If you think that the surprises have stopped, you couldn’t be more wrong. Just last Nov. 16, Oishi decided to set up a photo booth at the Philippine Women’s University and Emilio Aguinaldo College where PBB winner Slater Young popped up to surprise students in the booth.
At an Oishi event recently, the five endorsers had fun teasing and trying to outdo each other as they guessed the answers to Oishi trivia questions thrown their way. But they had more fun sharing their experiences with us as Oishi ambassadors.
The Team O missions have been memorable O, Wow! Moments, not only for Oishi and its co-conspirators, but also the people who experienced the surprises firsthand. You’ll never know what’s up with Oishi, so you’d better keep your eyes peeled. There could be more surprises, or even additions to Team O’s roster next year.
