Cebuanos prepare for canonization of Pedro Calungsod
Adhering to the missionary call to help spread and celebrate the canonization of the second Filipino saint, Beato Pedro Calungsod, the private sector in Cebu has formed a special events committee composed of Marlinda Tan, chairman and Carmel de Pio Salvador, vice chairman. They are assisted by Marissa Fernan, consultant with Gino Salvador and Robby Alugar as members. This group has been organized and designated by the committee on finance headed by Msgr. Roberto Alesna.
In view of this memorable event, well-meaning Cebuanos have volunteered to help raise the much-needed funds to help defray the cost and expenses of the Canonization Rites in the Vatican on Oct. 21, and also for the National thanksgiving Mass to be held at the Cebu South Road Properties on Nov. 30.
The committee has formulated a process by which donors can contribute and help in the fundraising effort for the Canonization of Beato Pedro Calungsod. Donations of P25,000 or more are being solicited from kindhearted donors who will be acknowledged through a numbered certificate of donation. Such a certificate will entitle the donor to a limited-edition commemorative piece designed by internationally-acclaimed artist Kenneth Cobonpue, as well as being afforded the chance to win two BMW cars and a Kia Sorento. Only 1,200 certificate of donations will be issued.
Filipinos are invited to check the website address specially set up to send your donations for the momentous event at www.pedrocalungsodlimited.com. You may also call the Archdiocese of Cebu Secretariat at (63-32) 520-7625 for more information.
