Delectable pairings from Italianni's

OOH LA LAI - Lai S. Reyes -

Something old, something new, both are yummy and good enough for the three of you.

The old and new come together as Italianni’s cooks up delectable pairings of your all-time favorites, coupled with new flavors of pastas and pizzas in its first quarter promotion dubbed “Something Old, Something New … A Perfect Pair for You.”

For only P995, diners get to enjoy a hearty pizza and pasta meal with a carafe of fresh fruit juice or smoothie that’s good enough for three to four persons.

“The concept of Italianni’s is really shared-style dining. Our guests always look forward to our abbodanza treats. Our platter promotions are always patronized by our regular customers because they get to enjoy good food at reasonable prizes,” explains Lisa Ronquillo, AVP for marketing, Bistro Group.

Italianni’s’ regular diners, Lisa adds, have their comfort zones when it comes to food. They prefer their favorite dishes over new food items most of the time.

“So if you pair the old favorites with new treats, chances are, they’ll patronize them. And that’s what we actually did in this latest promotion,” she adds.

Spaghetti, pizza and more: The new caricato (loaded) pizza goes well with the classic spaghetti and meatballs served with the refreshing watermelon shake from Italianni’s.

Phenomenal Pairings

There’s something about the classics that warm the heart — whether they be old movies watched countless times, love songs that make you fall in love over and over again, or your grandma’s homecooked dishes that occupy a special place in one’s palate. At the same time, the newness of things, people, and events excites us. Novelty is interesting and exhilarating — like new places to see, activities to experience, and food items to try.

Italianni’s new menu, which looks like a scrapbook, brings back foodie memories shared with loved ones. Who can forget the resto’s classic spaghetti? The aroma of the humongous, herb-flavored meatballs smothered with marinara sauce is enough to whet the appetite of even the most discriminate palate (or child). Or how siblings fought over the last slice of the Quattro Staggioni, a four-flavored pizza loaded with pepperoni, mushrooms, artichokes, shrimps, and black olives topped with heaps of four cheeses? Looking at the photos makes one’s mouth water with delight.

“Italianni’s ‘Something Old, Something New’ selection is a marriage of the classic and contemporary,” enthuses Bistro Group corporate chef Jonathan “Boom” Jota.

Chef Boom prepared three pizza and pasta pairings — the Spaghetti and Meatballs and Caricato Pizza with watermelon shake, Quattro Staggioni and Pasta Prima with dalandan juice, and the Tropicale Pizza and Salmon Caviar Pasta with lemonade — that burst with flavors and every bite a delight!

The Spaghetti and Meatballs is paired with the new Caricato Pizza, an oval-shaped pizza loaded with chicken strips, garlic sausage, bacon, bell pepper, mushrooms, and dried cranberries, which give it a fruity taste.  The mozzarella-stuffed dough is made flavorful with fresh basil and three kinds of pizza sauces (white sauce, Gorgonzola bleu cheese, and Italianni’s signature pizza sauce). It tastes as good as it looks!

Another harmonious and delectable combo is the signature Tropicale Pizza (laden with luscious pineapple, bacon, and mozzarella cheese) and the luscious Salmon Caviar Pasta, which is now my new favorite. The linguini pasta is tossed in the restaurant’s butter cream sauce, sautéed in brandy and smoked salmon, and topped with red and black caviar. A carafe of lemonade completes this trio of appetizing fare.

Chef Boom pairs another classic favorite, the Quattro Staggioni, with a delish pasta treat: the Pasta Prima. This generous serving of spaghetti, tossed in Italianni’s special marinara-cream sauce, sautéed chicken, sausages, bell peppers, shiitake and button mushrooms, and topped with cheddar cheese, is definitely a must-try. It tastes like Mom’s chicken pastel, only it’s served with pasta, not steamed rice.

“The ‘Something Old, Something New’ offering is our way of showing that at Italianni’s, sharing with people who are special to you is the best way to enjoy a meal. It’s time to revisit our all-time favorite dishes and pair them with new food items to add another dimension to your dining experience,” adds Lisa.

Go ahead, indulge: The Tropicale Pizza (laden with luscious pineapple, bacon and mozzarella cheese) and the indulgent Salmon Caviar pasta from Italianni’s

So, whether you stick to the old or order the new dishes, it is always a good time to dine at Italianni’s.
