What's on the Menu for Christmas?: Comforting flavors of Christmas at Mandarin Oriental

MANILA, Philippines - Mandarin Oriental offers its famous Oriental Duck Foie Gras Terrine, Duck Liver Pate, traditional English fruit cake, premium red and white wines, among others, for the holiday season. A selection of Christmas goodies is on sale also at Level One of Powerplant Mall in Rockwell Center until end of December.

Mandarin makes available Christmas Carvings selections that include savory dishes like whole roast turkey, honey-glazed ham, baked leg of lamb on the bone, and Norwegian salmon fillet. Other Christmas homemade goodies exclusively made by executive pastry chef Roberto Molleman including English fruit pudding, mince pies, hazelnut-pistachio biscotti, the famous chocolate Santa and gingerbread house are also available at the Mandarin Deli. Paseo Uno offers a sumptuous buffet spread. The Tivoli will be the setting of a lovely French affair with a six-course gourmet dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and four-course lunch on Christmas Day. Chef Hann Furn Chen prepares an exquisite spread of six sumptuous Chinese set menus. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Day, kids will delight in “Moments with Santa” as the man-of the-hour visits Paseo Uno, Tin Hau and Tivoli for photo opportunities with fans. And on Christmas Eve, Midnight Mass will be held at the Ballroom at 10 p.m.

Holiday room packages are also available until Jan. 8, 2012 starting at P4,800+ for a superior room.

Season’s gastronomy at Dusit Thani Manila

At Dusit Thani Hotel, Benjarong offers a Christmas family-style set menu that includes appetizers, salad and soup selections, carefully selected main dishes and desserts. Good for four persons and priced at P4,888 net. The menu is available until Dec. 25 for lunch and dinner.

Basix restaurant offers a festive lunch and dinner buffet of Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Filipino and Western cuisines at P2,000 net per person. The buffet is available from Dec. 24 to 26. 

Tosca offers a Christmas Eve Champagne Set Menu priced at P2,400+ per person. Feast on tuna crudo with grilled artichoke and lemon-infused olive oil, green pea soup with grilled scampi and “pois frites” and roasted duck breast in sesame crust and “eight spices” sauce, and roasted baby carrots with orange zest with a bottle of Moet & Chandon on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. At Tosca the Christmas Eve family dinner set menu features seafood stew in rich shellfish broth with rouille sauce and melba toast, slow-roasted US beef tenderloin and “eight spices” sauce, gratinated cream potatoes, roasted baby carrots with orange zest and Brussels sprouts. Good for a minimum of four persons at P2,400+ per person, the menu is available on Saturday, Dec. 24, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

At Umu there is a Christmas Eve buffet of unending appetizers, salad and noodle selections, sushi, sashimi, maki, temaki, robata, teppanyaki and dessert items at the special Christmas Eve Buffet, priced at P2,011 net per person, available on Saturday, Dec. 24, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Christmas-day brunch crossover offers an irresistible feast of international cuisines from Basix All-Day Dining Restaurant, Benjarong Royal Thai Restaurant, Tosca Italian Restaurant and Umu Japanese Restaurant on Dec. 25 at P2,000 net per person from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
