Bluewater beckons at Bohol
Bohol has the reputation of being a premier island destination for so many reasons. It is blessed with an abundance of unspoiled beaches, majestic falls and caves to be discovered, exotic flora and fauna, historical landmarks and natural wonders.
Recently, there was yet another reason to visit this island paradise, this time to witness and experience the grand opening of Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort owned and managed by Cebuano hoteliers Consul General of Austria Arcadio Alegrado, his wife Marle Alegrado and daughters, working socialites Julie Vergara and June Alegrado.
Guests in colorful beach attire were welcomed by the efficient and always-smiling staff with cold towels and refreshing drinks. We were then ushered to the Aplaya restaurant, where a sumptuous buffet lunch was served. Invitees feasted on international and authentic local fare that featured exotic flavors made with fresh local products.
Guest of honor, the driven Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto, in his brief remarks welcomed the Alegrados and assured them of the island’s support, extending the traditional Boholano hospitality, which often can be overwhelming, but leaves most visitors with a keen desire to return with family, friends or even on their own.
Bluewater is a blueprint for the future that creates a luxurious escape that honors Bohol’s natural beauty. The resort’s Filipino architecture and design complement the island’s culture, inherent warm hospitality and eco-focused initiatives.
Unparalled privacy defines this 5.5-hectare resort, where 50 deluxe rooms, one family villa, four family lofts, and three honeymoon villas are outfitted with modern in-room amenities including plasma TV, mini bar, IDD and NDD service. The spacious bathroom features a glass shower stall and bathtub. A private veranda overlooks the two free-form lagoon-shaped swimming pools with waterfalls.
Julie Alegrado Vergara, president of Almont Hotels, shared the properties vision which is to offer a resort that respects Bohol’s objectives and give an experience that one expects from a luxurious resort, including the best in Filipino hospitality coupled with world-class amenities and facilities.
“It’s all in the details. We have spacious accommodations to handle couples on honeymoon and families on vacation,” Vergara added.
Famed Filipino artist and designer Benji Reyes is the resort’s designer. His challenge was to introduce a unique design concept that would match the environment. What he came up with is an organic yet elegant, innovative and functional hideaway. “There is a feel of luxurious sophistication but it’s not stuffy. The atmosphere is kept friendly, comfortable and warm,” he enthused.
Taking center stage are the resort’s villas with high-end amenities and individual infinity dipping pool and private sun deck. The wooden cantilevered beds are the signature room centerpieces often referred to as “floating beds” that give a different level of sensation.
The property is also blessed with an underwater paradise with colorful and fabulously beautiful coral and marine species. It is ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing.
The resort is certainly designed to cover the needs of a perfect vacation. Whether you want quiet seclusion, to indulge in fun activities and adventures, or explore the beauty and serenity of the island, Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort will create a positive and memorable experience for everyone to cherish.
