Eat Play & Love The Treats

- Millet M. Mananquil -

MANILA, Philippines - Food is meant to be shared. Especially if it’s food prepared by chefs who live to create delicious cuisine and nothing but.

That’s the idea behind the Eat Dining Festival presented by Philippine STAR, Ayala Malls and BPI with support from Samsung from July 8 to September 30 at all Ayala Malls: Greenbelt, Glorietta, Serendra, Bonifacio High Street,  TriNoma, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market!, Marquee in Pampanga, Ayala Center in Cebu and Abreeza in Davao.

Why Ayala Malls? Because most of the country’s best restaurants and most famous restaurateurs just happen to find the best shelter at these malls. And why BPI? Because they just found a fabulous way to stretch your peso — or should I say credit card? For every P1,500 you spend using your BPI card in any of the 108 Ayala restos (see list on page F-4), you get a free dish!

The EAT Dining Festival is just one of the many lifestyle activities presented by the Philippine STAR this year as it celebrates its 25th year on July 28, 2011 at the Makati Shangri-La ballroom. Starting with literary events focusing on iconic writers, poetry reading sessions and discussions on favorite books last January, the STAR has lined up a year-long Fashion Watch series of shows headed by Inno Sotto at the Shangri-La and conducted a “Run for Mom” at McKinley Hill.

The STAR is now starring in billboards in the city, put up in partnership with Bench and Silverworks. More surprises are coming up.

Meanwhile, the STAR, Ayala, BPI and Samsung transformed the Fashion Walk in Greenbelt into a Food Walk as they unveiled a preview of the three-month Eat Dining Festival. Brazilian models were sexy waiters for the night as they paraded dishes from Barcino, Bizu, Cibo, CPK, Felix, Fish & Co, Flapjacks, Gelatone, Gloria Maris, Italianni’s, John and Yoko, Kimpura, Krazy Garlik, Lusso, Marciano’s, New Bombay, Peking Garden, Seafood Island, Simply Thai, Tapella, Mango Tree Bistro, Sonja’s, Fridays, Tony Roma’s and White Hat.

The tables are ready at the Ayala Malls. Eat, enjoy and let that plastic card give you ambrosial happiness.
