Liz Claiborne chairman in 'Leadership Voices'
MANILA, Philippines - The Asia Society Philippine Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Women’s Business Council Philippines, presents Kay Koplovitz, chairman of the board of Liz Claiborne, Inc., and author of the book Bold Women, Big Ideas. Koplovitz will give a talk on “Leadership Voices” on March 18, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, Manila Rooms A and B.
Koplovitz will be joined by a panel consisting of Anne Sutherland Fuchs, group president of Digital Ventures under the Growth Brands Division of J. C. Penney Company, Inc. and chairperson of The New York City Commission On Women’s Issues; Karen Pearse, founder and chief executive officer of Innovative Stone, one of the leading high-profile global suppliers of stones and tiles for commercial and residential use; and Joni Evans, one of the most prominent figures in publishing and media due to her previous work as publisher of Random House and Simon and Schuster. Additionally, Evans is currently the president and chief executive officer of Women on the Net.
In her talk, Koplovitz will share her experiences in building her career as a top business executive. She is an inspiration to women in business and her achievements are a testament to this. She became the first woman to head a television network when she founded USA Networks under the banner of Madison Square Garden Sports in 1977. In her work with USA Networks, she led the network to first place in cable primetime ratings and maintained this for 14 years.
In 1992, she launched the Sci-Fi Channel, which became a top 10-rated cable network. In 1994, she founded USA Networks International, which reached 60 countries worldwide. And in 1998, Koplovitz was appointed by President Bill Clinton to chair the bipartisan National Women’s Business Council. Aside from her work with Liz Claiborne, she is also currently the CEO of Koplovitz & Company, a company she founded. Koplovitz & Company is a media advisory and investment firm that specializes in marketing and growth strategies for early to late-stage companies.
Koplovitz is a veteran speaker on various issues and has been sought out to speak on subject matters ranging from entrepreneurship and business to leadership, and women in business. “Leadership Voices” aims to motivate and inspire women entrepreneurs to be at the forefront of business.
