Jollibee sundae and endorphins
It’s only February and yet the air feels a little warmer than it should. We normally experience our coolest temperatures during the first quarter of the year, but something is different this time around. It seems summer is coming earlier than expected; and if it’s warm now, then the true summer season is going to be a real scorcher. Stock up on sun block.
This may not apply to everyone but generally speaking, an increase in outside temperatures correlates with elevated stress levels, crankiness, and other not-so-fun feelings. In short, when it gets hot, our fuses become shorter and the tendency to become hot-headed is greater.
Still, it’s not like you can’t take matters into your own hands. It might be hot and it might be a bad day, but that’s really no excuse to be a sourpuss; there are ways to rise above it all. The simplest solution would be to get some ice cream. That’s usually the quickest fix for the “it’s so freaking hot!” dilemma. If that’s not enough, you could get a massage. Look forward to the thought of those nimble and professional fingers kneading away the day’s troubles. Or you could watch a movie. Movie houses are cold, dark, and conducive for relaxing. If the movie is good, then get involved in the story. If it sucks, then there couldn’t be a better place for you to take a two-hour long nap.
If the day was just really something else and you know that none of the above solutions are going to work for you, then put them all together: have a massage while watching a movie and eating ice cream. That’s a stress-busting, heat-beating combination right there.
Such a treatment may seem a tad indulgent, but that’s the kind of feeling Jollibee guarantees its patrons when they sample their new ice cream concoction, the Jollibee Choco Crumble Sundae. For only P36, the Choco Crumble Sundae provides rich and loaded satisfaction with five toppings: delectable coffee syrup, yummy peanut butter syrup, luscious brownies, crushed cookies and peanuts on top of vanilla soft serve. One of those ingredients is bound to take care of your stressful day during break time.
The launch of the Choco Crumble Sundae took place at the Blue Water Day Spa in Ortigas where first tasters of the new sundae variant were treated to a relaxing afternoon of back, foot and head massages, as well as a screening of a popular hit romantic-comedy, while enjoying Jollibee’s all-new offering.
Also present at the launch were sports personality Jinno Rufino, environmentalist and beauty pageant titlist Cathy Untalan and radio DJ and TV host Gino Quillamor. As busy people who know the importance of relaxing and taking a breather from their busy schedules, it was a treat for them to take part in a very relaxing afternoon.
It doesn’t take a genius to understand how a massage, a comedy flick, and an ice cream all mean good things. But there is some science to it. The massage relaxes and un-knots tired muscles, resulting in better blood flow and circulation. The movie is to take one’s mind from the grit of reality, and to create a temporary escape, even for just a couple of hours. The ice cream is where mad science really happens. Most varieties of ice cream contain a good source of vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin B12, calcium and protein from the milk — which stops you feeling drowsy and low. Add any sort of chocolate (like a brownie or syrup, for example) to the mix and you have a veritable endorphin party going on. Say good bye to stress and “pain” and let the good times roll.
One of these days, you might find yourself in a blatantly stressful situation. So before losing your temper and punching someone in the face, go to your nearest Jollibee drive-thru, order a Choco Crumble Sundae, dig into it, and let the endorphins do their magic.
