Spectacular Spain food festival at New World Hotel

MANILA, Philippines - The New World Hotel’s M2M Café features cuisine, wines and music of Spain in its “Spectacular Spain” festival ongoing until Oct. 31. In collaboration with Juan Carlos Terry of Terry’s Selection, Spanish specialties are offered at M2M’s daily lunch and dinner buffets. Authentic Spanish dishes include albondigas en salsa de chorizo de jabugo, alboronias, crema de tomate a la albahaca fresca, lengua a la Sevillana, mero en salsa molinera, among others. Lunch is at P1,269 per person, dinner at P1,381 per person. At the hotel’s Cinnabar, a selection of pinchos, skewered bite-size savory snacks, traditionally eaten in bars in Northern Spain, are available from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A wide selection of Spanish wines is also available. Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales will perform at Cinnabar today and on Oct. 21 and 26 from 9 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

Labintador puff at Fish Out Of Water

Fish Out Of Water offers new dishes like the labintador puff, a smoked fish paté with Laguna quesong puti wrapped in triangular puff pastry; Batangas onion soup made with caramelized onions, simmered in bulalo broth, topped with toasted pandesal, melted goat cheese and crispy bulalo beef flakes; and the crispy crablets with toasted cashew nuts. For dessert try the home-made santol sorbet with a hint of Italian Disarono liqueur; gatas ng kalabaw crème brulee and the macapuno and purple yam balls.

Italian food festival at The Heritage Hotel

The Heritage Hotel Manila presents “Dolce Vita! Dolce Italia” food festival at its Riviera Café until Oct. 24. The chef recommends the tortelloni al pomodoro (handmade, ricotta-filled pasta with a plum tomato sauce), pappardelle al sugo ( homemade flat noodles with classic Bolognese sauce), penne alla arrabbiata  (quill-shaped pasta with tomatoes, herbs, pancetta and spicy sausage), ravioletti con pesto (ricotta-filled pasta with a basil sauce) for starters. For the main course choose from steak alla pizzaiola, Roman-style beef scallops, polenta and quail, veal roast with olive sauce, beef bistecca, lombards bolito misto, pizzaioli beef steak and lengua con cetas, to name a few.
