First Gourmet Academy bags top prize in culinary contest

MANILA, Philippines - First Gourmet Academy recently bagged top honors in Flavors magazine’s Culinary Challenge 2010 held at the Foodcourt of SM City Entertainment Plaza. Team First Gourmet was composed of students Chrishelle Medrano, Nerize Martinez and Chavi Romawac, with chef instructor Michael Westelius leading the group. The school’s winning dishes were paillard of chicken with warm mushroom salad and bacon; fresh seafood canelloni with escabeche vegetables and shellfish reduction and pan-seared beef tenderloin with onion creme and Mediterranean vinaigrette. They also received the Most Delectable Dish award.

First Gourmet Academy bested AHA, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, Global Academy, Metropolitan Occupational Science and Technology Institute, St. Paul University,  UP Diliman and the University of Sto. Tomas.
